Celebrating Shambhala Culture THE THIRD SHAMBHALA CONGRESS Cologne, Germany 3-7 May 2007 Welcome The third Shambhala Congress will take place from 3 to 7 May 2007 at the European Kalapa Centre in Cologne, Germany. The Shambhala Congress is part of the global governance of the Shambhala Mandala. It is a forum for practice, communication, and celebration that aims to engage the mandala as a whole with the central leadership. The Congress process begins with consultation in each Shambhala Centre, leads into the gathering of participants at the Congress itself, and then unfolds afterwards as the governing bodies of the mandala work on the issues raised in the discussions. Thus, it is an opportunity at many levels to explore major topics relevant to the whole mandala, ask difficult questions, and work together to chart the future of Shambhala. In honor of the 20th anniversary of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s parinirvana, the theme for the 2007 Congress is Celebrating Shambhala Culture. We hope that by offering the best of Europe and our Shambhala artists, we can create an inspired container to gather, practice, exchange and bring to life the vision of Shambhala.
